Ethical Edge Academy, a trading brand of Social Work Projects UK Limited (“we”, “us” or “our”), is committed to providing high-quality training and professional development through face-to-face courses, virtual courses and associated learning materials.
We aim to ensure that booking, cancellation and refund arrangements are clear and fair. This policy explains how we deal with refund requests, participant cancellations, course transfers, technical difficulties and changes to courses.
This policy should be read alongside the applicable booking information, course terms and conditions, and any agreement entered into with an employer or commissioning organisation.
Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any rights you may have under applicable law.
If you experience difficulties accessing or participating in an Ethical Edge Academy course, please contact us at jeremy@socialworkprojects.org.
We will make reasonable efforts to understand the problem and, where appropriate, help resolve it. Depending on the circumstances, this may include technical assistance, alternative access arrangements, a transfer to another course date or another suitable remedy.
Where a problem arises from our services, we will consider the circumstances and any applicable contractual or statutory obligations when deciding the appropriate response.
If you wish to request a refund, please contact us by email at jeremy@socialworkprojects.org.
To help us assess your request, please provide:
We may request additional information where reasonably necessary to identify the transaction or assess the circumstances.
We ask that discretionary refund requests be submitted within 30 days of purchase wherever possible. This request period does not remove or restrict any statutory cancellation, refund or other rights that may apply, including rights arising after that period.
We will consider each request in accordance with this policy, the relevant booking terms and applicable law.
If you book a virtual course and experience technical difficulties, we will consider whether the problem can reasonably be resolved.
Where appropriate, possible solutions may include:
If a course cannot be accessed or delivered because of a significant technical failure attributable to us or our chosen platform, we will consider an appropriate remedy, taking account of the nature of the failure, whether the course can be delivered successfully at another time and your legal rights.
We cannot guarantee that every participant's personal device, internet connection or software will be compatible with every virtual platform. Where technical requirements are relevant, we will aim to make them available before booking.
If you book a face-to-face course and are unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible.
Depending on the booking terms and the circumstances, we may offer a transfer to another course date or consider a refund.
Where a participant does not attend without giving notice, a refund or transfer will not automatically be available. We will consider the applicable booking terms, the circumstances and any rights provided by law.
If you need to cancel because of illness, an emergency or another exceptional circumstance, please contact us. We will consider the request fairly, although a refund or transfer cannot be guaranteed in every case.
The cancellation and transfer arrangements applicable to a booking should be provided at the time of booking or agreed with the organisation commissioning the training.
Where a participant or organisation cancels a booking, any refund or transfer will be assessed in accordance with those arrangements and applicable law.
If a transfer is agreed, we will confirm the alternative course date or arrangements in writing.
Where no specific cancellation terms have been agreed, we will consider the circumstances and the applicable legal requirements rather than assume that a particular cancellation charge or refund exclusion automatically applies.
Occasionally, we may need to cancel, postpone or make a significant change to a course because of trainer availability, insufficient enrolment, venue problems, technical issues or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
If we cancel a course, we will contact the relevant booking contact or participants as soon as reasonably practicable.
Depending on the circumstances, we may offer:
Where a refund is due, we will arrange it in accordance with applicable law and the relevant booking arrangements.
If we need to change a course, we will explain the change and consider any appropriate remedy where the change materially affects what was booked.
Where an employer, care provider or other organisation books or pays for training on behalf of its staff, the booking may be governed by a separate agreement, quotation, purchase order or set of contractual terms.
In those circumstances, cancellation, transfer and refund arrangements will normally be considered in accordance with the agreement applicable to that booking, subject to any relevant statutory rights.
Where an individual participant is not the person who paid for the booking, any refund will normally be arranged with the original purchaser or contracting organisation, unless the circumstances or applicable law require otherwise.
We may ask the organisation's authorised representative to confirm any requested cancellation or transfer.
Where a purchase includes access to digital learning materials, online resources or other downloadable content, refund arrangements will depend on the nature of the purchase, the terms agreed at checkout and applicable law.
Some digital content purchases may be subject to specific statutory rules concerning cancellation rights, including circumstances in which access begins immediately after purchase.
Where relevant, we will provide the information and obtain any agreement or acknowledgement required by law before supplying digital content on terms that affect a cancellation right.
Nothing in this section removes any rights you may have where digital content is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails to meet applicable legal requirements.
Where a refund is approved or legally required, we will explain the arrangements and process it within the applicable legal or contractual timeframe.
Where practicable, refunds will be made using the original payment method. If the original payment method is unavailable, we may contact the purchaser to agree an appropriate alternative.
For bookings paid for by an employer or other organisation, refunds will normally be made to the organisation or original purchaser.
We will confirm the outcome of a refund request by email.
We ask customers to read this Refund and Cancellation Policy before making a booking.
By placing an order, you acknowledge that this policy has been made available to you and that the applicable booking terms may govern cancellation, transfer and refund arrangements.
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or replaces any statutory rights that apply to your purchase.
